Advantages And Disadvantages Of IT

Advantages of Information Technology:

  •  Easier Communication

With the help of information technology, communication has also become cheaper, quicker, and more efficient. We can now communicate with anyone around the world through email, or using the social network services (Face book, Twitter, Instagram).

  •  Creation Of New Jobs

Creation of new and interesting jobs such as Computer Programmers, Syastem analyzers, software and hardware developers, and web designers are examples of new job opportunities that's created  by the existance of informtation technology.

  • Globalization Knowledge
With the help of information technology, today we can use the internet to get the latest news from any country on the globe. Services like Twitter and Wikipedia are well equipped with data on about everything.

Disadvantages Of Information Technology:

  • Social Implications

With the increased addiction to social networks and internet games, people are spending more time on computers and give up on their normal life.

  • Over dependence on information  technology makes students less active and innovative.

Students no longer take time to solve problems and tasks, all they do is query that task in a search engine and a solution will be provided.

  • Unemployment

Information Technology has replaced most positions which humans used to take up. Accounting is now being done by software, so accountants run out of opportunities.

NETWORK TOPOLOGY

•A network topology refers to the layout of the computers and devices in a communications network.

•Network topologies are categorized as:
1) Physical Topology
-The physical topology of a network refers to the arrangement/configuration of cables, computers, and other devices (nodes) in a network.
2) Logical Topology
- The logical topology of a network refers to the path that data travels between nodes on a network.
3 Basic Types Of Network Topology

A)Bus Network Topology
consists of a single central cable called a backbone/trunk, which connects all the nodes in a network using the T-Connector.

A terminator is required at each end of the bus cable to prevent the signal from bouncing back and forth on the bus cable.
    B)Ring Network Topology

A cable that forms a closed loop or ring, with all the nodes arranged along the ring.

In ring topology, data travels from one node to another node in one direction (clockwise or counterclockwise) to all the nodes until the data reaches its final destination.
Token passing is one method for sending data around a ring.
C) Star Network Topology
•Star topology uses a central device(hub, switch) where all the nodes are connected to it using cables.
•In star topology, all data that transfer from one node to another passes through the hub or switch until it reaches the destination node.
•Hub : Takes a signal from the sender and passes it to all the nodes in the network until it reaches the recipient.

INTRODUCE TO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT)

  • Information Technology (IT) is defined as the use of computer hardware and software to store, retrieve, and manipulate  information.

  •  Typically, IT is used in the context of enterprise operations as opposed to personal or entertainment technologies. The commercial use of IT encompasses both computer technology and telephony.

  • IT includes several layers of physical equipment (hardware), virtualization and management or automation tools, operating systems and applications (software) used to perform essential functions. User devices, peripherals and software, such as laptops, smartphones or even recording equipment, can be included in the IT domain. IT can also refer to the architectures, methodologies and regulations governing the use and storage of data.
